LAWYER MASRY, PARKS BACK EACH OTHER FOR COUNCIL.

THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - Attorney Edward Masry hopes to move from the silver screen to the council chambers.

Masry, made famous by this spring's Julia Roberts movie, ``Erin Brockovich,'' said Monday he is running for a city council seat in Thousand Oaks.

Masry announced his candidacy at a rally with incumbant councilwoman Linda Parks For the DC Comics character, see .

Linda Park (born July 9, 1978) is a Korean American actress who is best known for her portrayal of communications officer character Hoshi Sato in the television series .
. They endorsed each other's candidacy for the two council seats that are open this November in Thousand Oaks, a city of approximately 120,000 in eastern Ventura County that regularly ranks as among the safest communities in the nation.

``It's no secret anymore that Linda Parks and I are running for Thousand Oaks City Council,'' said Masry, to a burst of applause from the audience. ``What's more important, we are going to win it.

``We are going to take the city back from the pro-development (council) majority that consistently give developers a waiver The voluntary surrender of a known right; conduct supporting an inference that a particular right has been relinquished.

In addition, the Westlake Village attorney will be a regular on the new television courtroom drama, ``Power of Attorney.,''
