LAWRENCE STEVEN MEYERS NAMED PRESIDENT OF FILMWAYS ENTERTAINMENT CORP.
DALLAS, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert Lapsley, president of ATC, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATCI), has named film industry veteran Lawrence Steven Meyers as president and chief executive officer of the newly formed Filmways Entertainment Corp., a Delaware corporation engaged in the licensing and acquisition of motion pictures for the international and domestic markets. ATC is a holding company which has interests in telecommunications and entertainment management. "At a time when the multi-media environment is expanding significantly, the need for entertainment software is growing exponentially," said ATC's Lapsley. ATC recently purchased all of the stock of the Carnegie Film Group. Its library consists of 72 titles in the middle to low budget range. ATC is currently in negotiation for additional libraries totaling 150 films. Meyers is being given the mandate to build Filmways' library by acquiring and seeking to consolidate other libraries which could be marketed both domestically and internationally. Filmways will also be developing a production and acquisition program for an additional four to six films a year. Meyers will also be actively seeking to develop international co-production partnerships with particular interest in Canada. Meyers was with Lorimar Motion Pictures for six years, four of them as senior vice president of international distribution. He started and ran New World Entertainment as vice president of international distribution from 1983 to 1985. Since 1989 he has been a consultant for independent producers and foreign sales companies in the international market.
