LAWMAN TO LEAVE PALMDALE.

Capt. Joe Hladky will leave his post as commander of the Palmdale sheriff's station effective June 6 for a promotion to the department's custody division in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. , city officials announced Friday.

Operations Lt. Terry Judge, a former Palmdale councilman, will serve as the acting station captain until a new commander can be named in June, said Palmdale City Manager Bob Toone.

The present station is in a leased building in a Palmdale Boulevard shopping center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into .

Prior to arriving in Palmdale, Hladky served as second in command at the Carson sheriff's station as an operations lieutenant. Hladky's career in the Sheriff's Department has included stints in custody, patrol, information, organized crime, detective services, homicide and field operations.
