The signs, which feature a white background and red and black ink, include two phone numbers to call to report crimes and indicate that anonymous callers can receive a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. ``We can always use people's help to solve cases, and this is the way that everyone wins, with the exception of the person committing the crime,'' said Alicia Pearce, the department and foundation's liaison to the Crime Stoppers program. Walt Morris, a member of the program's board of directors, said $5,000 was given out last year to people providing information that lead to the arrest of approximately 40 fugitives. Officials said the amount of the award depends on the severity of the crime and is determined by a committee. Rewards are given each month.
