LASERTECHNICS ANNOUNCES NEW WIREPHOTO APPLICATION

 LASERTECHNICS ANNOUNCES NEW WIREPHOTO APPLICATION
 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Lasertechnics, Inc.

(NASDAQ: LASX) today announced that it has expanded its agreement with its German distributor, Helfmann Computer Systems of Munich, to supply its DIR Gray Scale Printer to the Axel Springer newspaper organization.
During last year, 14 DIRs were placed in facilities in and around the paper's main location and in six additional printing facilities throughout Germany. Additional placements planned for 1992 will bring the total value of the agreement to over 635,000 DM.
The DIR is being used for hard copy output with the Hasselblad Electronic Imaging Electronic Picture Desk. This state-of-the-art system for receiving and electronically processing newspaper wirephotos provides Axel Springer with quality improvements, time savings and improved control over news photos.
"Electronic picture desk systems are rapidly becoming a widely accepted and used newsroom tool at most newspapers. This is the future of news photography," commented Ronald Reed, manager of the Lasertechnics Imaging Systems division. "It represents a significant new opportunity for the DIR in an application that is particularly sensitive to the level of image quality that only a digital printer like the DIR can provide. In Europe alone, the potential market is well in excess of $5 million and we are exploring similar opportunities in the Far East and South America."
