LARRY DEAN TO RETIRE AS PRESIDENT AND CEO OF STOCKHOLDER SYSTEMS, INC.; ROBERT CAMPBELL, EVP OF MARKETING AND ACQUISITIONS, NAMED AS SUCCESSOR

NORCROSS, Ga., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Stockholder Systems, Inc. (SSI), a NYNEX(R) (NYSE: NYN) company, announced today that Larry A. Dean, president, chief executive officer and founder of the company, will retire effective March 1, 1994.
Elected by SSI's board of directors to succeed him as president and chief executive officer is Robert L. Campbell, SSI's executive vice president, marketing and acquisitions. Campbell will assume his new position effective Sept. 1.
Explaining his decision to retire, Dean said: "In the 22 years I've been here, it's been rewarding to see how the company has grown from an outfit I started in the back of my house to the international company it is today. Having accomplished my goal of making SSI into a leading financial software company, I have decided it's time for me to move on and begin concentrating on the more personal goals I have for myself.
"SSI is getting a fine leader in Robert Campbell. He and the rest of the management team are committed to maintaining and furthering SSI's solid reputation in the financial software industry. Employees and customers alike can look forward to continued strength and leadership from SSI," said Dean.
As executive vice president of marketing and acquisitions, Campbell's responsibilities included researching and developing new products and markets; coordinating mergers and product acquisitions; and directing the company's marketing, advertising and public relations activities.
Campbell, 42, was elected to SSI's board of directors in 1988. Prior to joining SSI in 1986, he was an executive vice president of Touchstone Management Systems in Dallas.
In his new position as president and chief executive officer of SSI, Campbell looks forward to the challenge of not only maintaining SSI's healthy position as a provider of financial application software, but finding new markets to tap in the ever-changing computer and software support industries.
"SSI has always been in a leadership position in the markets we serve and the majority of the credit for that goes to Larry Dean. Without his vision, SSI would not be where it is today. The management team and employees of SSI thank him for his devotion to this company and applaud him for the courage to stick with his dream. I am looking forward to continuing what Larry started and building on the solid foundation he has developed here," said Campbell.
Born in Chattanooga, Tenn., and raised in Knoxville, Tenn., Campbell graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1973 with a bachelor of science degree in marketing. Campbell received his masters in business administration from the University of Tennessee in 1974.
Campbell and his wife, Brenda, live in Norcross with Campbell's three sons, Andy, Michael and Nicholas. His interests include church work, jogging, photography and camping.
