LANCASTER CAPITALIZES WILLIAMS GETS GAME'S ONLY SCORE ON INTERCEPTION LANCASTER 10, CHAMINADE 6.Byline: Matt Hufman Staff Writer Mistakes happen. In openers, a lot of mistakes happen. Lancaster coach Troy Jackson grimaced as he heard the stats: 16 penalties for 80 yards, two lost fumbles and an interception. ``That sounds like an opener,'' he said painfully. And he won. Lancaster took a 10-6 win at Chaminade on Friday night, sealing the win with - what else? - a mistake. Cornerback Mickey Williams stepped in front of an Eric Vose pass in the third quarter and returned it 55 yards for the game's only touchdown. The rough edges showed on both sides of the field as the young offenses sputtered. Chaminade lost three fumbles, including two fumbled punts and misfired on a couple opportunities to score. ``We'll pick ourselves looking at the film,'' said Chaminade coach Bill Culpepper. ``All those opportunities we had.'' Chaminade couldn't convert on a couple key drives, but showed signs of good things to come with a drive to set up a field goal with less than a minute left in the first half. Chaminade kicker Brian Borreson boomed field goals of 38 and 40 yards and nearly missed a 57-yard attempt. Lancaster opened the scoring in the second half on Colton Walter's 29- yard field goal. The Eagles were paced By Tony Ortiz' 78 yards on 19 carries. Quarterback Josh Pratt 9 of 16 passes for 54 yards and ran for 25 more. Vose went 12 for 23 for 88 yards and Mike Mess ran for 43 yards. ``We've got a really young offense and we've got great kids,'' saild Culpepper. ``I think when we eliminate the mistakes we'll really have something.''
