LANCASTER, PARACLETE PLAY FOR CROWN.

The Highland High girls' soccer team won't be playing in the final, but they'll still be at the Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. For the census-designated place in Wyoming, see Antelope Valley-Crestview, Wyoming.

 League season concludes.

Lancaster brought an end to Highland's three-year run as girls' upper-division champion Tuesday with a 5-1 semifinal victory. The Eagles (5-0-2) will face Paraclete (5-1-1) - a 3-2 winner over Antelope Valley in the other semifinal - at 2:45 p.m.

 competition the previous three years, will play Antelope Valley (5-2) at 2 p.m. for third place. The winner will meet Knight at 3:30 and the loser will play Palmdale at 4:15 in exhibition games.

Lancaster, making its first title-game appearance in the league's four-year history, tied Highland 2-2 in a regular-season game July 12. Highland held Maria Arroyo and Patty Garcia to a goal apiece in that game.

Paraclete, making its first championship-game appearance since 2003, tied Lancaster 1-1 in the July 19 regular-season finale.

In the boys' upper-division league, Palmdale (6-1) remained in first place heading into Wednesday's game against Knight (2-5). Littlerock (5-2) played Highland (4-3) in the other game.

A victory would secure Palmdale its first summer title. Quartz Hill won in 2002, Highland in 2003 and Antelope Valley last year.

--Softball update: Three Little League softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Invented (1888) in Chicago as an indoor game, it was at various times called indoor baseball, mush ball, playground ball, kitten ball, and, because it was also played by women, ladies'  teams representing District 51 ended their postseason runs this week.

, went 2-2 in the state tournament at Grand Terrace. Parkview was eliminated from the Division 3 tournament with an 8-5 loss Monday to Pomona American.

Parkview's 14-under team (6-2) routed Canyon Country 18-6 in the Section 2 tournament, but it was sandwiched between two losses to Arcadia American, 4-0 Friday and 5-3 Sunday.

 Valley's 10-under team (2-3) lost to Alhambra American 3-1 Monday at Almansor Park in Alhambra. The setback followed a 4-3 defeat to San Marino in its Section 2 opener Sunday.
