LAN Airlines Starts Operations to Ushuaia, Argentina.

 -- Starting December 1, 2004, LAN Airlines is adding a new destination to its route network by inaugurating operations to the southernmost city of the world, Ushuaia, Argentina. The destination offers a unique landscape combining mountains, sea, glaciers and forests, and is the main port for cruises to the Antarctica, which transport 60,000 international visitors each year, as well as a number of scientific ships.

Starting December 1, 2004, LAN Airlines will operate three flights a week between Santiago, Chile and Ushuaia, Argentina. The flights will depart Santiago on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. and arrive in Ushuaia at 2:30 p.m. Return flights will depart Ushuaia on the same days at 3:15 p.m. and arrive in Santiago at 9:20 p.m. The route (Santiago-Puerto Montt-Punta Arenas-Ushuaia) will be operated by the company's modern Airbus A319 aircraft offering the latest technology and entertainment systems.
