When Katherine Gayle Coburn drove over the hill from Leona Valley to her job at the United Cerebral Palsy United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), sometimes known as United Cerebral Palsy Associations, is a network of affiliated groups in the United States which works to "advance the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with disabilities" (from UCP's mission statement),  Foundation in Chatsworth one day she had sheep on her mind.

She and her husband, R.C., had adopted a couple of the woolly wool·ly also wool·y

Wondering where she would find someone who could do it, Coburn mentioned it at work.

``I can do that for you,'' spoke up co-worker Richard Kirkland.

She was surprised. She had worked with him five years at the foundation and had never known he could shear shear: see strength of materials.

She took him up on his offer.

Kirkland brought Kevin Barber, another foundation co-worker, along to help. They and set to work under the watchful watch·ful

With speed and dexterity, Kirkland rolled dunes of wool off Parrot's body and then turned her loose for the mama sheep's inspection before he wrestled the old ewe down for her turn.

Everyone watching was filled with admiration as the job was completed and Coburn gathered the wool into a bag to carry away.

``How long have you been doing this?'' Coburn finally asked.

Kirkland smiled triumphantly.

``It's my first time,'' he said.
