``They will. That'll happen,'' Jackson said Saturday. ``We've all been through this in this game where we've had rivalries with players. Maybe not as intense or as close as Kobe and Shaq's, maybe not teammates.

``But players that we've seen that we had intense rivalries with, 10 years, 15 years after our playing days, and we've sat down and had discussions and enjoyed each other's company. So that'll happen in due time.''

O'Neal's thoughts on the subject, as well as the Christmas rematch, remained silent. O'Neal skipped out on meeting with reporters one day after the Heat gave up 51 points to Vince Carter <noinclude></noinclude>

Bryant implored reporters to ``move on'' from the subject while Jackson said he thought O'Neal's hard feelings toward his former teammate, as well as the Lakers, eventually would subside.

``What happened to win championships becomes the things that you remember,'' Jackson said.

Jackson added that he didn't think the Christmas showdown this season was as significant as last year's.

``I think there is something there still,'' Jackson said, ``but it's not like last year where (O'Neal) came in early and did his Santa Day in L.A., magnanimous mag·nan·i·mous

``I don't think it's going to be the same type of thing. But it's going to be competition and it's going to be heated in a certain way.''

Bryant said he told Colangelo that he would do whatever he was asked, including making a three-year commitment to USA Basketball, if necessary, and possibly taking part in summer camps.

``It was invented by a Canadian,'' Bryant joked, ``but this is our sport.''

--Good advice: Miami guard Dwyane Wade, who struggled guarding Carter in Friday's game, talked with O'Neal about playing on Bryant today. Only two games ago, Bryant scored a career-high 62 points in three quarters.

``He told me don't put it all on my shoulders,'' Wade said. ``It's going to be a great team effort.''
