LAKERS NOTEBOOK: BROWN HOPING FOR QUICK RETURN.

Even as Aaron McKie Aaron Fitzgerald McKie (born October 2 1972, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a former American professional basketball player and current assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA.  made onefadeaway jumper after another over him, Kwame Brown couldn't help but feel good.

The Lakers center was on the court two hours before Friday's game, playing a little light one- on-one against McKie, and testing his injured right shoulder.

Brown said he was encouraged by the results. He was able to shoot as well as use his right forearm in defending, a crucial aspect for all the post battles Brown has to fight.

``I just started back shooting, trying to fatigue it and see how much it can take,'' Brown said of the shoulder.

Brown said he was targeting Friday's game against Detroit for his return. He hoped to practice sometime this weekend.

The Lakers originally said Brown would miss up to the first 2 1/2 weeks of the regular season with the injury.
