was left behind in Indianapolis, thanks to the Pacers' efforts Friday night. Travelers' insurance won't cover the loss. But as they have so many times this season, the Lakers bounced back quickly with Saturday's victory at Minnesota.

It's been a hallmark of coach Phil Jackson's team all season. The Lakers, owners of an NBA-best 32-6 record, are the only team in the league that hasn't lost consecutive games. So what does that say about them?

``I hope a lot,'' Derek Fisher Derek Lamar Fisher (born August 9 1974 in Little Rock, Arkansas) is an American professional basketball player with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was with the Utah Jazz but asked to be released from his contract to care for his 10-month-old daughter, who has cancer.  said. ``Good teams have to be able to do that. We've shown the ability to do that so far, especially on the road. If you can do that on the road, that really says a lot.''

In fact, the Lakers have said a mouthful: Prior to the loss at Indiana, they had won eight straight on the road, a streak not even the Showtime show·time or show time

Overall, the Lakers have lost just twice since Nov. 22, a span of 56 days.

And in another mark of resiliency, the Lakers are 12-1 on the second night of back-to-backs this season.

Yet it's been impossible to put much distance between themselves and the Portland Trail Blazers The Portland Trail Blazers are a professional basketball team based in Portland, Oregon. . But Fisher said the Lakers, who play host to the Blazers on Saturday, aren't feeling any pressure to hold them off.

``Not really. I think it's more about what we want to do, what we want to accomplish,'' he said. ``We all know they're there, but we don't play our games worrying about what they're doing. We do what we have to do and the wins will come and they'll continue to be second.''

--Down time: After playing four games in six days, the Lakers get a break, with just three games in eight days, all at home. Jackson gave players the day off Sunday.
