Also acquired was Ubaldo Gandolfi's painting ``Selene and Endymion,'' which depicts the encounter between the goddess and the prince disguised as a shepherd. It was commissioned in 1770 by one of the artist's patrons, Vincenzo Marescalchi, and remained in the family until recently.
