LAC MINERALS TO ACQUIRE INTEREST IN ZINC DEPOSITS
TORONTO, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Lac Minerals Ltd. (NYSE: LAC)

announced that it has reached agreement on acquiring a 52.5 percent effective interest in one of the world's best undeveloped zinc deposits. The Lisheen deposit, located near Kilkenny in the Republic of Ireland, has proven and probable reserves of 25 million tonnes grading 12 percent zinc and 2 percent lead. All zones remain open and exploration activities are continuing. Early indications are that the Rathdowney trend bears comparison with other major zinc mineralized belts, such as Pine Point and Viburnum. Lac believes that the land position, the high grade of the deposit and the easy access to European markets, make the Lisheen deposit an exciting opportunity to add long life, low cost reserves to the company's asset portfolio.
It is expected that a feasibility study and an environmental impact statement will be completed by early 1994. Additional exploration and development work will continue over the next two years.
Lac has signed a purchase agreement with a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CHV) to acquire 100 percent of the shares of a company which holds all of Chevron's mineral interests in Ireland for approximately $70 million. The purchase agreement is subject to a due diligence review and the obtaining of necessary governmental consents.
