The most amazing body under the big top during opening night of "Corteo," the latest Cirque du Soleil extravaganza to arrive in the Southland, did not belong to one of the incredible acrobats or trapeze artists on the circular stage. Yes, those performers have bodies to die for, but they are all youngsters. What will they look like when they are 74? If they are lucky, they might look like statuesque Julie Newmar, whose washboard stomach was on display as she lounged on one of the beds scattered across the floor of the Forum in Inglewood at the exotic after-party. "I feel great," the now-blond original Catwoman grinned. "My guy is 29 years younger than I am, and he can't keep up with me!" There were plenty of handsome younger men in the star-studded crowd, including Kevin Dillon, Goran Visnjic, and Lindsay Wagner's two sons, who joined her for the eye-popping show. Others made it a family affair, too, like Ray Liotta, who brought his young daughter, Christopher MacDonald and his three girls, and Constance Zimmer, who showed off her baby bump (she's due late this year). Paula Abdul made the scene, along with Gina Gershon, Camryn Manheim, Donna Mills, Michelle Lee, Ricki Lake, William Fichtner, Monet Mazur, Sharon Lawrence, Josie Maran, and Stacey Keibler, the other famous woman in the crowd whose body looked long and strong enough to join the fabulous Cirque du Soleil troupe. The yellow big top shows will be happening next door to the Forum until Oct. 28; stay tuned to see if one of those hard-bodied celebs on hand Thursday night will decide to run away and join the circus.

UP CLOSE, PERSONAL WITH JOSS STONE

An expected exclusive rooftop mini-concert presented by Wallop.com -- the MySpace-style social networking site -- to kick off soul singer Joss Stone's 2007 U.S. tour, alas, did not come to pass. Instead of an intimate evening of song at the Penthouse of the Roosevelt Hotel with the petite songbird, the young British singer held a private audience with a select number of reporters. Wearing a floral chocolate-brown strappy outfit matching the hot pink highlights in her curly brown tresses, she playfully chatted about her career. The flower child confided that her third album "Introducing Joss Stone," which the upcoming tour showcases, is the one she really felt in charge of its content.

"I just like it. I have grown, definitely. The first one, a little bit, the second one, a little bit more. With the third one, I felt like I could just do it, I could say what I wanted and be confident. If I didn't like something, I took it out. Before, I couldn't."

With a floral tattoo on one bare foot and pink ace bandage on the other, adorned with a glittering peace sign necklace, Stone downplayed her recently sprained ankle. "I twisted it in Africa because I was an idiot," she smiled disarmingly. "I was not wearing heels -- I was wearing trainers -- but the ground is very uneven. Just shoes, man! I was having a good time with my sister in the market and we were just being idiots." She admitted it was still hurting, but added, "It's fine. It's just a sprained ankle. I can still sing!"

Meanwhile, rumors of bad-girl behavior surround fellow Brit Amy Winehouse while Lily Allen will miss out on performing with Kanye West and Common at the MTV Video Music Awards in Vegas on Sept. 9. Stone seemed unaware that Allen had been denied entry after being detained at LAX. "I suppose they are my peers, but how can I possibly believe anything that's written after I've read the stuff about me? Why would I believe all this silliness? If I wanna know about them, I'll call them up."
