Carrie-Anne Moss arrived at the DVD party for her film "Disturbia" wearing a white dress from Target that she says cost her $25. She had minimal makeup on, a simple hairstyle, and was still the most gorgeous woman at The Standard Hotel in downtown L.A. Thursday night. The party for the sleeper hit was tied to the opening of X Games, which made for a unique mix of Hollywood stars and athletic daredevils.

"I'm not so much a big movie star, I don't think," insists the mother of two. "I'm a mom most of the time, and when I work, I put that hat on and I love it and I feel so lucky to do what I do. I don't know if there's such a thing as balance when your children are small. But, I'm learning. My priority is definitely my family, and I'm lucky enough that I get to work a little bit. I have such a great time when I work. But I think small children need so much."

Moss does have another film in the can, though. She plays Ryan Reynolds' wife in "Fireflies in a Garden," which also stars Julia Roberts and Willem Dafoe. She hopes it will be as successful as "Disturbia," which surprised many by taking in $80 million-plus at the domestic box office.

"I felt like it was going to be huge, I had a feeling. And I had a feeling because of Shia (LaBeouf). He's so fantastic and so talented."

LaBeouf wasn't at the party, but the film's young star was on the minds of plenty of people, including director D.J. Caruso.

"When I met him, he was so perfect for my film and I fell in love with him. But to see him in 'Transformers' and he's doing 'Indiana Jones' and we're going to be working together again. It's amazing, and it's really gratifying to see a talented guy rise who's not your typical Hollywood leading man. He's very unique."

LaBeouf's "Disturbia" co-star Sarah Roemer also had high praise: "Going into the film, I had high hopes, and when I read with Shia during the audition, that just sealed the deal. I thought, 'This is amazing.' He's really one of the hardest-working people I know."

Roemer has had much of the summer off but did participate in the making of a 10-minute short film written and and directed by Kate Hudson. "It was the first thing she was directing. I think she's going to make something really cool, and it was a fun thing to be a part of."

"Disturbia" comes out on DVD on Tuesday.

Face time

The tattoo-covered Carey Hart is competing in the X Games this year in the Super Moto as his wife, Pink, enters her 19th month of her concert tour. At the "Disturbia" party at L.A.'s The Standard, he recalled how the couple met at the 2001 X Games right before he went out to compete. He proceeded to crash and break 14 bones. "She looked at her friend and says, 'I will never date a motorcycle rider as long as I live,' and two months later we reconnected in Vegas and been together ever since." The couple married in January 2006 and, despite being busy with their careers, "We see each other quite a bit, but it's not 100 percent." Pink missed the opening of Hart's tattoo shop in Las Vegas, so, he said, she offered to give him a tattoo on his right buttock. His body is now 70 percent covered with tattoos, but he does have his limits: "I won't tattoo my face."
