Has white-bearded Francis Ford Coppola discovered the fountain of youth?
"Francis is more energized than any of us," 46-year-old Tim Roth said at the premiere of the 68-year-old Coppola's "Youth Without Youth" at the Writers Guild last week. "It's impossible to keep up with his remarkably adventurous soul."
"He's as passionate as someone 25 and has more energy than all of us combined," agreed co-star Alexandra Maria Lara, who, at 29, should know.
Apparently, Coppola hasn't been hit by lightning or discovered a secret elixir. Making a new brand of what he calls "artistically rich films" seems to be rejuvenating.
"The spectacular success of 'The Godfather' prevented me from making risky films when I was young so I'm taking that opportunity now," Coppola explained. "I'm getting a second chance at life by making films that an 18-year-old would love to write and direct."
He's embarked on "Tetro," his next personal film, with teenlike gusto.
"I tend to be overly enthusiastic about everything I tackle, and that keeps me from getting bored or tired," Coppola said.
What's the solution for the rest of us?
Become directors at 70.

'Passionate' business folks sought for new series
"Passionate entrepreneurs" are being sought for a unique reality series that will be shot beginning mid-January in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
"The Hydra Executives" are seeking eight Americans who will compete not only against one another but eight British contestants.
The winner receives $1 million to set up a new business in the UAE. The cattle call begins today at 9 a.m. at the Beverly Hilton, 9876 Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills.
Executive producer Ziad Batal said that business experience is a must. "The person who gets $1 million has to run his own company," Batal said. "We're not looking for people who ran their own company, but for those who have the know-how." Though the series has not secured finalized plans for an American outlet, it will air on Showtime Arabia beginning in March.
