The Mustangs beat Pasadena 74-64 in the Red Regional final at the La Canada Tournament Thursday night.

Verdugo Hills cut a six-point deficit to just one with 30 seconds remaining. The Dons had three attempts at a game-tying 3-pointer.

La Canada was led by Gary Swaner and Jordan Ballard, who each scored nine points for the Spartans.

Kevin Baird scored 18 points and Michael Elliott added 10 for Verdugo Hills.
