In the end, the Brothers Craven read much like the Brothers Grimm for the Moorpark basketball team.

Twin brothers Errick and Derrick Craven combined for 41 points to lead Bishop Montgomery past previously unbeaten Moorpark 83-57 in the Brown Regional Championship of the La Canada/St. Francis Basketball Tournament on Wednesday night.

Despite a dazzling 28-point effort from Moorpark's all-tournament selection Todd Tomlinson, the Knights (7-1) broke to a 15-6 lead that was never truly in danger the test of the way. It was the first loss of the season for Moorpark (7-1).

``Bishop Montgomery is an excellent team - there's no shame in losing to them,'' Moorpark coach Tim Bednar said. ``I just thought we could have done a better job in the first half of keeping it close so we could maybe make a run at them in the second half.

``We missed too many free throws and we stood around and watched Todd too much on offense. I think we were in a little awe at times.''

As was the crowd that watched Craven and Craven take turns slamming dunks, popping from a distance and generally commanding the game with their athletic brand of basketball. Both were named to the all-tournament team, Derrick claiming Most Valuable Player rights one year after Errick took home the MVP trophy. It was also the Knights' fourth title in the tournament's nine years.

Bishop Montgomery will meet the winner of the today's Red Regional title game between Muir and Pasadena on either January 22 or 29 at Pasadena City College. Moorpark hosts its first home game of the season tonight against Camarillo in a non-league contest.

Glendale 65, St. Francis 59: All-tournament selection Gilbert Yousefian combined with teammates Tomik Tranosian and Anthony Dornian to hit nine of their final 10 free throws and preserve the Nitros' third-place win.

Despite averaging 19.5 points per game in Glendale's four tourney games, Yousefian had struggled shooting the ball on Wednesday. Still, the guard finished with a team-high 17 points, including the final charity shots to ice the victory.

``I had to make up for missing all the shots I did,'' Yousefian explained.

Glendale coach Steve Snodgress said he was happy to go 3-1 in the tourney and knew Yousefian was the right man to have the ball with the game on the line.

``Gilbert had a bad night shooting, but he does have the green light to shoot - and he's played well enough to deserve it,'' Snodgress said. ``I had all the confidence in Gilbert to get it done at the end.''

Iranosian added 15 points, Eddie Karibyan had 14 points and 11 rebounds, and center Vartan Amayakan contributed six points and 13 boards for Glendale (6-4).

``We're a good team, but we're trying to be a great team,'' Yousefian added. ``Coach has given me the green light, but this is an unselfish team and we like to get four or five guys in double figures. When we do that, we win.''

All-tournament selection Jeff Brown paced St. Francis (5-3) with 24 points, including the Golden Knights' final six points to keep his team close. Michael Jenkins tossed in 11 points, and Aaron Sims added four points and 12 rebounds.
