L.A.-based Fishking Processors Inc. acquired by Nippon Suisan (U.S.A.).


SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 1996--Fishking Processors Inc., a Los Angeles-based producer of specialty seafood products, has been acquired by Nippon Suisan (U.S.A.) whose parent company, Nippon Suisan Kaisha Nippon Suisan Kaisha Ltd. (日本水産  Ltd., Tokyo, is one of the world's largest producers of seafood products in the world.

The UniSea Group Cos., based in Redmond, Wash., is another subsidiary of the Tokyo-based parent company.

Fishking will continue to market its product line throughout the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  and Canada under the Mrs. Friday's brand name, primarily to the food-service industry. Fishking produces a premium line of frozen breaded specialty seafood products.

"Fishking's product line will add products that are very complementary to our other UniSea Group products and will significantly enhance UniSea's overall marketing position in North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. ," said Dennis Delaye, president of UniSea Foods, who will assume the additional responsibility as president and chief executive officer of Fishking Processors.

Fishking also owns QF Inc., a specialty processor of breaded seafood products, based in Bayou La Batre, Ala.
