L.A. bidding for World Cup soccer

The Los Angeles/Pasadena Bid Committee las week formally submitted a joint bid to host World Cup soccer matches at the Rose Bowl or Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum For board track racing circuit, see .

Present use
The Coliseum is now primarily the home of the USC Trojan football team. During the recent stretch of its success in football, most of USC's regular home games, especially the alternating games with rivals UCLA and Notre
 in 1994.

The committee is competing against bids from 30 other cities or regions that want to host matches when the 52-game World Cup tournament is played in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  during the summer of 1994.
