L.A. WINELINE.

Byline: LARRY LIPSON

Fleming's, the upscale steakhouse chain with some 42 locations in 22 states, has a solid wine commitment with its 100 wines by the glass list.

It changes its list yearly, choosing 60 wines as a national selection while allowing local wine managers to pick each restaurant's remaining 40 with consideration for regional tastes.

The price range remains fairly constant, running from $6.50 for the least expensive glass to around $25.

Of the newly introduced annual 100 it is interesting to see some of the oldest wine names in California represented along with some rarities seldom found in such a widespread circumstance.

The oldies Oldies is a generic term commonly used to describe a radio format that usually concentrates on Top 40 music from the '50s, '60s and '70s.

Oldies are typically from R&B, pop and rock music genres.
include labels from Beringer, Wente, Sebastiani and Simi.

Rarities are such wines as Osoyoos Larose, a Bordeaux-style blend from Oakanagan Valley in Canada and a first-release 2003 shiraz from Hope in Western Australia Western Australia, state (1991 pop. 1,409,965), 975,920 sq mi (2,527,633 sq km), Australia, comprising the entire western part of the continent. It is bounded on the N, W, and S by the Indian Ocean. Perth is the capital.  called The Ripper Software that extracts raw audio data from a music CD. See ripping and MP3. .

There's also a riesling by Zilliken in Germany titled Butterfly, because it supposedly ``floats on the palate.''

You can easily understand why Zilliken didn't use the German name for butterfly, ``schmetterling.''

It just doesn't float in the ear.
