The name derives from the Latin word to melt.  in February.

I remember tasting it at a press luncheon at the then-famous L'Ermitage restaurant in Los Angeles when Strong personally introduced it.

Though his Rodney Strong Vineyards was purchased in 1989 by the Klein family, the Alexander Crown cab continues as a superb Sonoma wine and other wines with the Strong label have always proved reliable as well as reasonably priced.
