 LOS ANGELES, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- L.A. Gear Inc. (NYSE: LA)


today announced that Ogilvy & Mather Advertising has been awarded the estimated $30 million account for 1992 as the result of a recently completed advertising agency reviad Bill Hamilton and Executive Creative Director Rick Boyko, both of whom have significant advertising experience in the athletic footwear industry.
 Mark R. Goldston, L.A. Gear President and Chief Operating Officer stated "We are extremely pleased to have Ogilvy & Mather as part of our team to help propel L.A. Gear forward into 1992 and beyond. Ogilvy & Mather shares with us a common philosophy regarding the positioning, marketing and advertising of an image-based product line. We are about to embark upon an exciting new path for L.A. Gear and the creative element of the product and our advertising will be key to the success of our efforts."
 Mr. Goldston indicated that L.A. Gear expects to unveil its new advertising campaign at the Super Show Industry Conference in Atlanta, Georgia February 1-4. He added that the company will also introduce several newly designed products for L.A. Gear.
 L.A. Gear is currently the third largest rated brand in the domestic athletic footwear market, featuring a full line of men's and women's and children's athletic, casual and hiking related footwear. The company's celebrity endorsement stable includes basketball stars Karl Malone of the Utah Jazz, Hakeem Olajuwon of the Houston Rockets, football star Joe Montana of the San Francisco 49ers and singing and dancing sensation Paula Abdul.
