L.A. BRIEFS : LEE PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO ABUSING WIFE, SON.

MALIBU - Rocker Tommy Lee pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of abusing his wife, actress Pamela Anderson Lee, and their baby son.

A judge reluctantly cut Lee's $1 million bail in half, despite a plea relayed through an attorney who said Pamela Lee was fearful. The Motley Crue drummer was soon released and left with his lawyer.

Lee is on probation after pleading no contest to attacking a photographer in 1996. He also pleaded innocent earlier this month in Phoenix to misdemeanor assault for allegedly attacking a concert guard and was supposed to have been in court there Friday.

An appellate court found that the judge in the retrial of Erik and Lyle Menendez did not err in a series of rulings opposed by the brothers' lawyers, according to an opinion filed Friday.

The 2nd District Court of Appeal affirmed Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Stanley Weisberg's decisions in the case, nixing the siblings' chance to get a new trial.

Erik, 27, and Lyle, 30, were sentenced July 2, 1996, to life prison terms without parole for the shooting deaths of their mother, Kitty, and entertainment executive father, Jose, in the family's Beverly Hills home.
