L.A. BEAT : KINGS TEAM TAILORING NEW IMAGE.The Kings' black, white and silver uniforms and jersey logo are expected to be out for the 1998-1999 season. The team is considering the addition of purple to the current color scheme ``as a way to merge two eras of Kings hockey,'' said vice president of marketing John Cimperman, referring to L.A.'s original colors of purple and gold. Cimperman said the team is considering three options for the logo, each with the old crown a part of the design. The current chevron-shaped logo will go. Why the change? ``It's the colors,'' Cimperman said. ``Unfortunately, a lot of schools have banned them because black and silver are associated with gangs.'' The changes also symbolize the start of a new era: Dave Taylor was promoted to general manager during the offseason. The new design must be submitted to the league by Oct. 1. ?13Michael Rosenthal GALAXY Jones earns MLS See multilevel security. honors Cobi Jones Cobi Jones (born June 16, 1970 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American midfielder for Major League Soccer team Los Angeles Galaxy.
