L.A. BEAT : HORSE RACING BAFFERT WINS AT HOLLYWOOD.


Trainer Bob Baffert, who watched Silver Charm come up just short in a bid for the Triple Crown, returned to the winner's circle Monday when he saddled Argolid, the winner of Hollywood Park's $62,640 feature race. Baffert, who had been on the East Coast with Silver Charm for most of the past two months, was welcomed back by a standing ovation from the crowd when he went into the winner's circle.

Damwijk picks Memphis

Hiram Damwijk, the Western State Conference Player of the Year in baseball this past season at College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation. , has signed a national letter of intent with Memphis.

Damwijk, a former Sylmar High School Sylmar High School is a public school in the northeast San Fernando Valley in the Sylmar district of Los Angeles, California. Established in the 1950s, it is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, District 2, and serves more than 3,600 students in grades 9-12.  star, hit .426 as a shortstop in leading Canyons to the WSC WSC Winter Symposium on Chemometrics
