L-3 Communications Wins Satellite Communications Network Contract From Bulgarian Government.

) announced today that the Belgian Government has awarded its Satellite Transmission Systems (STS (Synchronous Transport Signal) The electrical equivalent of the SONET optical signal. In SDH, the European counterpart of SONET, STS is known as STM (Synchronous Transport Module). ) division a $13.5 million contract to custom design, integrate and install multiple earth terminals into a satellite communications network.

The contract consists of 16 transportable earth terminals as well as one shipboard ship·board

The program will be executed in partnership with CISET CISET Committee on International Science Engineering and Technology (USA FCCSET)  International S.A., a local Belgian contractor. Installation is expected to be completed by September 1999.
