The F/A-18C TOFTs and related training system equipment are slated to begin delivery to Payerne Air Force Base in the latter part of 2008 and will be ready for training in 2009.

"L-3 Link is very pleased to have the opportunity to work with the Swiss procurement authorities and Swiss Air Force The Swiss Air Force (Schweizer Luftwaffe, Forces aériennes suisses, Forze Aeree Svizzere) is the air component of the Swiss Armed Forces. It was established on July 31, 1914 but did not become a separate service until 1936.  to address the unique requirements for the Swiss F/A-18 Distributed Mission Training system," said John McNellis, President of L-3 Link Simulation and Training. "The Swiss F/A-18 Flight Simulator Upgrade program solution will take advantage of L-3 Link's recent efforts in developing and delivering networked F/A-18 training solutions to the U.S. Navy, Canadian Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) is the Air Force branch of the Australian Defence Force. The RAAF began in March 1914 as the Australian Flying Corps and became a fully independent Air Force in March 1921. , while featuring usability enhancements and capabilities tailored to the specific operational needs of the Swiss Air Force."

This state-of-the-art simulation system will enable Swiss F/A-18 pilots to perform a full spectrum of combat training while operating as a tactical team. The networked F/A-18C TOFTs will be integrated with L-3 Link's SimuView[TM] personal computer image generation system and SimuSphere[TM] 360x field-of-view visual display.

The Swiss-unique Mission Operations Center (MOC MOC

The personal computer-based instructor operator station will be enhanced to enable MOC-level oversight of all manned aircraft in the training mission, including monitoring of any aircraft cockpit displays, instrumentation and communications. The operator at any instructor station is able to maneuver simulated threat or friendly aircraft.

A Swiss Air Force-customized brief/debrief room will enable F/A-18 aircrews to prepare for their simulated mission by using real world mission planning systems. Following execution of their simulated mission, Swiss F/A-18 pilots will have the opportunity to review mission event data captured by the debriefing de·brief·ing
