L-3 Communications Introduces Multifunction VME Telemetry Processing Module.

L-3 Communications (NYSE:LLL) announced today that its Telemetry & Instrumentation (L-3 T&I) division, the world's leading supplier of telemetry ground station systems and processing modules, is introducing a VME version of its top-selling Multifunction PCI Telemetry (MFT) product. Both products are designed for use in test, development and communications applications, primarily for the aerospace industry.

The new MFT product is the first single 6U VME processing module able to acquire two telemetry streams, giving the telemetry community a robust solution that cuts the cost and slot requirements of traditional approaches in half. The VME MFT product leverages unprecedented software-reconfigurable technologies developed by L-3 T&I for its highly successful Multifunction PCI Telemetry module. The equipment is available for delivery now, with orders currently shipping.

L-3's VME MFT processing module incorporates two bit synchronizers, two PCM decommutators, two PCM simulators/encoders and an IRIG time code reader/generator. Key product features include the ability to simultaneously extract desired data from noisy streams at rates to 10 Mbps, time tag and decommutate two PCM bit streams, and simulate telemetry formats to 20 Mbps.
