) announced today that its Integrated Systems division (L-3 IS) has been awarded $63.2 million in sole source task orders by the U.S. Special Operations Command A subordinate unified or other joint command established by a joint force commander to plan, coordinate, conduct, and support joint special operations within the joint force commander's assigned operational area. ) contract. Under the terms of the contract, L-3 IS will provide service life extension maintenance support for 33 Special Operations Aviation A/MH-6M Little Bird helicopters and Bare Base Sets to the U.S. Army. The values of the task orders for the Service Life Extension Program and the Bare Base Sets are $5 million and $58.2 million, respectively.

The company was awarded the Special Operations Forces-Support Activity (SOF-SA) ID/IQ contract in April 2003. The original contract, valued at $1.5 billion, includes a base year followed by four option-years and five incentive award-term years.

The Service Life Extension Program, which extends through August 2006, allows for maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of Little Bird helicopters at the government-owned, L-3 IS Joint Operations Group (JOG)-operated rotary wing modification facilities in Richmond, KY. The Bare Base Sets provide an integrated support package to support special operations war fighters on the modern battlefield across their full mission spectrum, today and into the future.
