L-3 Communications Awarded $22 Million U.S. Army Follow-on Prophet Contract.NEW YORK -- L-3 Communications (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange : LLL LLL abbr. left lower lobe (of the lung) ) announced today that its Information Products unit has been awarded a $22 million modification to a fixed-price-incentive-fee contract to convert the Prophet Block I (Prophet) tactical signals intelligence (SIGINT Noun 1. SIGINT - intelligence information gathered from communications intelligence or electronics intelligence or telemetry intelligence signals intelligence ) systems to an upgraded multi-sensor capability. "We have already delivered more than 100 combat-ready Prophet vehicles to the active U.S. Army and National Guard units," said Ron Gorda, president of L-3 Information Products. "These newest upgrades will apply interim Block III capabilities, and quickly put many more of these effective and highly capable systems into the hands of our troops. Additionally, as an On-the-Move ISR sensor, the Prophet System is complementary to the roles and missions of present airborne L-3 Communications sensors and platforms." The Prophet System, developed and managed by Program Executive Office for Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors (IEW&S) at Fort Monmouth, N.J., is a lightweight tactical signals intelligence and electronic warfare system designed to support the U.S. Army division and brigade forces. It provides tactical commanders the ability to intercept radio frequency signals, perform signal direction finding, and develop actionable intelligence.
