According to Juliette Salvati, senior analyst in aerospace and defense for Frost & Sullivan, Link was chosen for the awards due its strong market position and product innovation through the introduction of advanced simulation technologies.

"L-3 Communications' Link Simulation and Training provides flight simulator devices for a wide range of military aircraft and, in an era of increasing operational jointness, is playing a leading role in networking simulation systems to support team tactical and large scale training exercises," Salvati said. "Within the U.S. Air Force, Link exclusively provides training devices and support for the F/A-22 and B-2 platforms in addition to over 80 percent of F-16 simulators worldwide, which includes a recent award to build an F-16 Aircrew Training System for the Polish Air Force Polish Air Force (Siły Powietrzne Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej, Siły Powietrzne RP). Until 1 July 2004 it was officially known as: Wojska Lotnicze i Obrony Powietrznej (literally: Air and Air Defence Forces, the name existing from 1990). . For the U.S. Navy's F/A-18C, Canada's CF-18 and Australia's F/A-18 Hornet platforms, Link is building on its 95 percent F/A-18 simulator market share by supplying interoperable training systems that will support multi-ship training. Link's prominent role in networked training extends to the U.S. Army where it serves as prime contractor on the service's AVCATT-A helicopter training system and is a major partner for the U.S. Army's Flight School XXI program. These capabilities have positioned Link to meet emerging military training requirements, such as for the unmanned aerial vehicle A powered, aerial vehicle that does not carry a human operator, uses aerodynamic forces to provide vehicle lift, can fly autonomously or be piloted remotely, can be expendable or recoverable, and can carry a lethal or nonlethal payload.  market."

John McNellis, president of Link Simulation and Training, also noted that the company's participation on major simulation programs is due to the continuing investment being made to develop advanced simulation technologies.

"At Link, we are focused on understanding emerging military simulation training requirements and, in turn, developing innovative solutions that are needed to support high fidelity, networked simulation exercises," McNellis said. "These awards from Frost & Sullivan reflect our ongoing efforts to provide the military flight simulation market with solutions that enable our customers to train more effectively than ever before."
