L-3 Communications' Link Simulation and Training Division Selected for $800 Million Fielded Training Systems Support II Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity Contract.LE BOURGET, France -- L-3 Communications (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange : LLL LLL abbr. left lower lobe (of the lung) ) announced today that its Link Simulation and Training (Link) division has been awarded a five-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ ID/IQ Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity ID/IQ Indefinite Duration/Indefinite Quantity ) contract valued up to $800 million for the U.S. Navy's Fielded Training Systems Support Services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services II program. The contract was awarded by the Naval Air Warfare Center The Naval Air Warfare Center was a former U.S. Navy military installation located in Warminster, Pennsylvania and Ivyland, Pennsylvania. The U.S. Navy purchased the grounds to establish this facility from the Brewster Aeronautical Corporation following its bankruptcy in the Training Systems Division in Orlando, FL. Link, one of eleven companies chosen to compete for task orders under this ID/IQ contract, will have the opportunity to pursue programs that call for contractor operation and maintenance services, contract instruction services, training device relocations, training device and equipment modifications, instructional systems development, training systems management and other support at training sites around the world. Under a previous Fielded Training Systems Support Services I program task order, awarded in 2002, Link is providing contractor operations and maintenance support for U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 training equipment around the world. Since 2003, Link has been providing contractor operations and maintenance under the Fielded Training Systems Support Services I program for a range of U.S. Marine Corps helicopter and fixed-wing simulators based in Japan. These programs remain a part of the new Fielded Training System Support Services II initiative.
