) announced today that its Communication Systems-East division is celebrating 100 years of continuous operation on New Jersey's Camden Waterfront.

The division began on October 3, 1901 as the Victor Talking Machine Company

The Victor Talking Machine Company (1901–1929) was an American corporation, the leading American producer of phonographs and phonograph records and one of the leading phonograph
 Incorporated. In recognition of this milestone event, L-3 Communication Systems-East will unveil and dedicate a monument in a public ceremony, to an audience of about 200 people, on Tuesday, October 23, 2001, at 10:00 am Eastern Daylight Time.

The monument will be located on the L-3 Campus on the Camden Waterfront. L-3 is currently the only high technology company located in the City of Camden. Designed by local Haddonfield artist John Giannotti, the monument's inscription reads - "We are proud of our employees past and present - true pioneers of communications in a changing world. Today, the employees of L-3 Communications dedicate themselves to carry forward this legacy for our customers and our country. Dedicated to all of our employees, October 2001."

Commenting on the event, Gregory Roberts, corporate vice president of L-3 Communications and president of Communication Systems-East, said, "We at L-3 Communication Systems-East are proud of our heritage in Camden, NJ as a leader and innovator in communications products. Today, L-3 Communication Systems-East continues as a pioneer in communications, producing products for both government and commercial customers."

Frank C. Lanza, chairman and chief executive officer of L-3 Communications, and Robert V. LaPenta, president and chief financial officer of L-3 Communications, will participate in this event. A brief reception with the press and invited guests will follow.

- Live Two Way Radio Communications - better known in radio terminology as
'Special Operating Events' - by the Victor Amateur Radio Association (call sign
W2VTM). The event will begin on October 23, 2001 and end on December 23, 2001.
The goal is to establish contact with as many current and former employees as
possible from the Camden plant.
