Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless handsets and devices, today announced that its award-winning CDMA data mobility solutions are providing the high-speed wireless connectivity for KVH Industries' (Nasdaq: KVHI) new TracNet(TM) 100 mobile Internet system. The Kyocera KPC650 PC Card and the Kyocera KR1 Mobile Router, the key wireless access components of the TracNet 100, take a single CDMA2000(R) 1x Evolution Data Optimized (EV-DO) broadband connection and create a mobile Wi-Fi hot spot for multiple PCs, using 802.11g technology to deliver download speeds of up to 2.4 Mbps. TracNet 100 uses these embedded core devices to provide in-motion access to Web browsing, MSN Mail, MSN Messenger, digital photo viewing, MSN Video, and MSN Radio, all conveniently displayed on video screens and televisions in cars, boats, and RVs.

Kyocera's CDMA data products have won numerous industry awards, including PC Magazine "Editors' Choice" awards for both the Passport KPC650 PC Card and the KR1 Mobile Router. The KR1's compact design allows for it to be seamlessly integrated into the TracNet 100 device, offering travelers the mobile high-speed communications capability they require to work efficiently outside their home or office while they're on the road or the water.

Where available, the TracNet 100 system uses EV-DO service, which provides data rates averaging 400-700 Kbps and up to 2.4 Mbps - similar to wired broadband connections in the home or office. EV-DO coverage is offered in and surrounding more than 180 cities throughout the continental U.S., with new cities being added regularly. In areas where EV-DO service is not currently available, TracNet 100 reverts to the more widely-fielded 1xRTT service, which delivers speeds of 60-80 Kbps with bursts of up to 144 Kbps.

The TracNet 100 includes a mobile Internet receiver with a 3-port Ethernet router, infrared (IR) wireless remote, wireless keyboard, 12V DC power adapter, and EV-DO data card. In addition, TracNet 100 comes with a bundled 3W booster and a platform-specific external cellular antenna to ensure the best performance possible in marginal/low-signal areas.
