Kyocera Wireless Kyocera Wireless Corporation (KWC) is a manufacturer of mobile telephones for CDMA networks and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kyocera Corporation that was formed in February 2000 when Kyocera acquired QUALCOMM's San Diego, California-based terrestrial handset division.  Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. The foremost application of CDMA is the digital cellular phone technology from QUALCOMM that operates in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band.  wireless handsets and devices, along with three end-user customers and a team of technology partners won Value Chain Awards from M2M Magazine for innovative machine-to-machine technology solutions that improved business processes and customer service while increasing return on investment for corporate adopters. The Kyocera 200 Module was awarded silver and bronze honors for enabling real-time voice, data and A-GPS A-GPS Assisted Global Positioning System (used in mobile communications as a positioning system)  communication ability on CDMA networks for New Jersey State Police (NJSP NJSP New Jersey State Police

"The Kyocera 200 Module Value Chain awards underscores Kyocera's leadership in the M2M market, and also demonstrates how the superior capabilities and data rates of CDMA technology are key to delivering a flexible and cost effective communication solution that helps enterprises maintain a competitive edge in today's fast-paced business environment," said Dean Fledderjohn, general manager of the M2M division at Kyocera Wireless Corp. "Time and time again, CDMA-based M2M technology has proven a smart investment for businesses across multiple industries and government agencies to meet and exceed project and performance goals."

The Value Chain Awards honor the most successful corporate adopters of M2M technology along with the team of solution providers that made their success possible. The awards highlight the process of combining multiple technologies such as device-connectivity hardware, radio modules, network service and application software and infrastructure and showcase how all the elements of the M2M value chain work together to create winning solutions for the end customer.

"We chose NJSP, Big Eagle Services and GE for Value Chain Awards because they adopted M2M applications that demonstrate how the cooperation of multiple technology providers enable ingenious solutions that increase performance and customer satisfaction while they help cut costs," said Peggy Smedley, editorial director and publisher, M2M Magazine. "The M2M market is at an exciting juncture in its growth where technology providers are working together to create next generation applications that are driving business value as well as M2M adoption."

 Of Crime

The NJSP and technology partners took home silver Value Chain Awards in the Government category for a customized MiniBoss(TM) M2M surveillance and tracking solution designed to stop crimes in action, recover stolen goods, prosecute criminals and prevent future theft by breaking up organized crime rings. The keystone Kyocera 200 Module provides data and assisted GPS GPS is a satellite based positioning system. Assisted GPS, or A-GPS was introduced to enhance performance. The development of A-GPS was accelerated by the U.S. FCC's E911 mandate requiring the position of a cell phone to be available to emergency call dispatchers.  in real time from virtually anywhere. Sendum served as the system integrator and supplied a customized version of its Sendum VT100 tracking hardware, and Bulldog Technologies supplied its MiniBoss firmware and Bosstrak software applications for remote surveillance, tracking and Geofencing operations, in addition to security gateway applications, software routers, a database application and user-friendly web interfaces.

Frustrated by the limitations of traditional surveillance and tracking methods, the N.J. State Police turned to M2M technology for a remote tracking solution to save time and money while improving crime detection and prevention. Carried by informants, undercover agents and placed on merchandise, the customized MiniBoss solution is used three or four times a month in covert sting operations to apprehend cargo thieves and recover stolen merchandise. MiniBoss allows investigators to keep a safe distance while keeping an eye on criminal activity and gives increased visibility inside buildings, trucks and metal containers. From January 2005 to February 2006, the NJSP Cargo Theft Unit recovered and/or tracked stolen property valued at more than $515,000. By implementing this system, investigators can now track stolen goods through different levels of black market distribution to uncover entire cargo theft operations and break up organized crime rings.

Big Eagle Bird's Eye Accuracy Ensures Environmental Safety and Soil Nutrition

Big Eagle Services and a team of technology partners received silver Value Chain Awards in the Energy and Utilities category for a sophisticated M2M solution designed to monitor and manage fleet vehicles, including highly specialized waste clean-up and land-spraying equipment, as well as monitor and manage environmental compliance and consolidate billing procedures. Key to the solution's success is the Kyocera 200 Module, which provides powerful real time data, voice and telemetry telemetry

The segment ran from early 1999 until mid 2002. The show ran from 3:00PM ET until 7:00 PM ET.  where the solution is in operation.

The Big Eagle Services solution was implemented across a diversified fleet of specialized heavy equipment and "light duty" vehicles traveling on surface streets. The technology captures and records, in five second intervals, numerous data elements such as GPS information, state of ignition, power take off, vehicle air brakes and tank valves, just to name a few. These data elements provide the ability to "see" vehicle and equipment function in real time so command central can respond immediately to remotely manage critical operations with unprecedented accuracy. For instance, when land-spraying nutrient rich slurry to maintain soil health and fertility, Big Eagle can monitor and remotely control the exact speed threshold alarms of vehicles traveling over land to guarantee that the operators of these vehicles do not abuse the highly specialized float tires designed to travel lightly across farm fields without leaving tracks. By leveraging the solution's intelligence capability, Big Eagle can adhere to strict environmental compliance regulations and provide quantifiable validation to its clients. In addition, the system monitors overall fleet performance and schedules regular vehicle maintenance before costly repairs are required. The solution improved Big Eagle's business operations -- from fleet management, to billing and client reporting -- while it helped cut operating costs and red tape. Improved management and client reporting abilities have helped improve sales by attracting new customers.

GE...Brings Good Customer Service To Life

GE Consumer and Industrial and its technology partners were honored with bronze Value Chain Awards for the cutting-edge "Complete Mobility" M2M solution designed to streamline fleet management, cut operating costs, and improve service center efficiency and productivity, as well as customer satisfaction by responding faster to consumer needs. SERVICEPower (www.servicepower.com) was the system integrator and supplied a suite of fleet management software tools; TechnoCom supplied its Location Messaging Unit (LMU) 4000 hardware; GE Security supplied location-based service software to sync command central with fleet vehicles; the Kyocera 200 Module enabled real time CDMA wireless data communications, and the application also integrates Wi-Fi-embedded and Bluetooth-enabled laptops and Bluetooth printers and credit card readers.
