Kwikstar Communications Ltd. - Executive appointments.

BURNABY, Bc,--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 29, 1995--KWIKSTAR (Alberta Stock Exchange:KCL) Following the announcement earlier this month, when shareholders of Digital Courier International Inc. ("DCI") agreed to exchange 100 percent of their DCI shares for shares in Alberta Stock Exchange listed Kwikstar Communications Ltd., DCI's board of directors announce additions to its senior executives.

Mr. E. Lynn Patterson has been named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DCI effective immediately. Lynn has been in the telecommunications industry since 1964, most recently as President and Chief Operating Officer of B.C. TEL, a GTE company. Over his 31 year career in the industry, Lynn has been a leader in transforming Canada's telecommunications industry into a highly competitive force as deregulation of the industry evolved.

Mr. Patterson, in addition to his business accomplishments, has served on numerous community initiatives including: Science World B.C. Capital Campaign Cabinet; YMCA Capital Campaign Cabinet; Chairman Burnaby Arts Centre Capital Campaign; United Way Majors Chairman 1992, 1994; Vice Chair General Campaign United Way (1995); and MS Society Board of Governors.

He currently serves on the boards of the following: Nav Canada (privatization of Canada's air traffic control system); National Quality Institute; Advisory Council to the President of the Treasury Board; and Crofton House School Board of Governors. Formerly General Manager, Mr. Allan Kozak has been elevated to President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Kozak has been one of the driving forces behind the design and implementation of DCI's network for the delivery of high quality compressed audio over the telephone network. Originally an engineer by profession, Al has been involved in several major start-ups and previous to DCI was a co-founder of the highly successful PMC-Sierra, Inc. spin-off from MPR Teltech Ltd.

Edward D. Ford, a Chartered Accountant with over 35 years of business experience has been appointed Executive Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer. After 20 years in public practice creating and implementing financial strategies for clients, Ed founded Enterprise Developments Inc. a B.C. based venture capital and merchant banking firm. He has specialized in financing and organizing emerging technology companies preparatory to public offering and developing financial control and management systems for leading edge businesses. He has extensive experience in securities markets working with companies listed on the Toronto, Vancouver and Alberta Stock Exchanges as well as those quoted on NASDAQ in the United States.

At a recent shareholders meeting, Mr. Patterson and Mr. Ford were elected directors of DCI along with Ian Bardsley and Peter Inman, both of MPR Teltech, and Samuel Duboc of CIBC Wood Gundy Capital.

DCI's mission is to advance the application and development of a communications network for the radio industry using standard audio compression known as MPEG. MPEG allows audio signals to pass through DCI's proprietary software and hardware, be compressed by a factor of 6:1 or greater; be transmitted over digital phone lines through the DCI store and forward network; and be received and decoded at its destination by DCI terminals yielding a digital quality equivalent to a compact disc. DCI's roots in the telecommunications industry and its internationally recognized implementation of MPEG combined with the recent infusion of additional capital arranged by Kwikstar Communications Ltd., are keys to achieving its mission.
