Kurtti received his BA degree from the Univ. of Minnesota in 1959 and worked for various companies in Minnesota before joining Neenah in 1976 as a sales engineer. Since then, Kurtti has held several positions and director roles before assuming duties as Neenah's executive vice president. An AFS member since the 1960s, Kurtti is a member of the Wisconsin Wisconsin, state, United States

 Cast Metals Assn., has served on the board of the American Metalcasting Consortium and has made numerous technical presentations to the metalcasting industry and related organizations.

Kurtti served as AFS vice president from 2003-04, 2nd vice president from 2002-03 and was an AFS director, class of 2004.
