If you can believe that a girl who lacked rhythm and never took a music class can pick up drumsticks and become a professional drummer within weeks, then you might not mind this sometimes overly dramatic novel. On graduation day Graduation Day refers to:

, Miranda Lockhart's small-town boyfriend Denny proposes to her. She's faced with the choice of moving forward with college plans, or leaving her dreams behind to remain in Barton. Unsure if she's a hometown girl or a big city girl, Miranda seizes the opportunity to find out. At college, fate lands her a couple of strange roommates--a punk rocker/math whiz and an oversexed o·ver·sexed

From that point, a predictable yet improbable plot (falling in like with her instructor, not wanting to let her parents know she plays drums, struggling with feelings for Denny, falling in love with a band member) overshadows glimpses of a good story. While sentiments and sentences are often overwritten, Krulik aptly captures the way it feels to be a college student on the fringe On The Fringe is a popular Pakistani television show on Indus Music. It is hosted and scripted by the eccentric television host and music critic, Fasi Zaka and directed by Zeeshan Pervez.  of popularity--that, in itself, is a wonderful accomplishment.
