Kremlin invites top blogger to cover Russian leader

The Kremlin, keen to burnish Dmitry Medvedev's credentials as an Internet-savvy leader, invited a blogger to cover his meeting with the Indian president, officials said Thursday.

Rustem Adagamov, regarded as Russia's most popular blogger, said that Kremlin's press department had invited him to cover Wednesday's meeting between Medvedev and his visiting Indian counterpart Pratibha Patil Pratibha Patil (Marathi: प्रतिभा पाटील) (born December 19, 1934) is the 12th and current President of India. She is the first woman and first Maharashtrian to hold this post. .

"It was interesting to see how things work there so I washed my neck in the morning, polished my shoes, put on a suit, took a camera and went to the Kremlin," the blogger wrote.

The Kremlin press department Thursday confirmed he had covered the meeting, the RIA (Rich Internet Application) A Web-based application that approaches the speed and elegance of a local application. An RIA may refer to a browser-based application that uses AJAX or another enhanced coding technique.  Novosti news agency reported.

Adagamov, also known by his nickname (1) An alternate name used to identify yourself in a chat room.

(2) A shortcut for identifying a recipient in an e-mail address book.

The blogger covered not only the two presidents' address to reporters, but was briefly allowed to take a peek at the dinner, an event off limits to the media.

The Kremlin's press department told RIA Novosti that Adagamov frequently criticized the work of the Kremlin official pictures and was invited to also see for himself how photographers worked.

Adagamov said he had also been invited to accompany Medvedev on one of his trips around the country.

All Russia's major television channels and most print publications are state-controlled and Internet is regarded as the last bastion of free speech.
