Kramer breaks own speedskating record

Sven Kramer of the Netherlands broke his own world record in the 5,000 meters Saturday in the World Cup speedskating final.

The 20-year-old Kramer finished in 6 minutes, 7.48 seconds at the Olympic Oval to break the mark of 6:08.78 that he set Nov. 19, 2005, in Salt Lake City.

"I was a little bit nervous before the race because all the people here were waiting for a world record," Kramer said. "It was a lot of pressure on my shoulders."

"The ice was good, but if the ice is good and I have bad legs there will be no world record. So I have to give my best on the best ice in the world in this moment."
