It was previously known as the National Boxing Association, it is one of three major organizations recognized by IBHOF  (WBA) counterpart, Sharmba Mitchell, at the end of the 7th round Saturday on SHOWTIME. In the co-feature, World Boxing Organization The World Boxing Organization (WBO) is a sanctioning organization currently recognizing professional boxing world champions. Its offices are located in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  (WBO) No. 1 contender Andy Tabanas and No. 3 contender Falan Sakkririn fought to a draw. The bouts aired on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING at 9 PM ET/PT from the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas. The card was promoted by Don King Productions, in association with Millennium Events.

Tszyu (26-1-1, 22 KOs), of Sydney, Australia, by way of Serov, Russia, earned the right to face undefeated International Boxing Federation “IBF” redirects here. For other uses, see IBF (disambiguation).

Tszyu, making his first start since scoring a sixth-round TKO over six-time world champion Julio Cesar Chavez on July 29, 2000, on SHOWTIME, traded blows with Mitchell (47-3, 29 KOs) for seven rounds. Mitchell, who was limping after injuring his left knee, tried to come out for the eighth round, but his corner stopped the fight. The hard-hitting Tszyu, 31, captured his third 140-pound title in eight years as a pro. He earned the WBC crown by knocking out Miguel Angel Gonzalez in the 10th round on Aug. 21, 1999, in Miami, Fla. He also is a former International Boxing Federation (IBF) 140-pound titlist ti·tlist

 and considered by many to be the hardest-hitting boxer in the division. Tszyu has won seven consecutive bouts, all by knockout, including an eighth-round TKO over Ahmed Santos in his first WBC defense on Feb. 12, 2000, on SHOWTIME.

Tabanas (40-4-2, 24 KOs), of Cebu City, Philippines, and Sakkreerin (42-2-2, 16 KOs) of Mahasarakam, Thailand fought to a draw. Judge Patricia Jarman-Manning scored the bout 116-112 for Tabanas, John Stewart scored it 115-113 for Sakkreerin and Bill Graham called it even, 114-114. Tabanas kept his record even, 1-1-1 in world title fights, while snapping Sakkreerin's winning streak, who had won 20 consecutive bouts, dating to December 1992.

SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING's Steve Albert and former world champion Bobby Czyz called the action from ringside while Jim Gray and Tim Smith served as roving reporters. The executive producer of the SHOWTIME telecast was Jay Larkin, Richard Gaughan produced and Bob Dunphy directed.
