Korean youth wins Bachauer International Piano Competition.


Twelve-year-old Rachel Cheung Rachel Cheung (張緯晴) is a young classcial pianist born in Hong Kong. She has won numerous prizes and awards in Hong Kong and overseas and performs regularly in Europe and America.  of Hong Kong Hong Kong (hŏng kŏng), Mandarin Xianggang, special administrative region of China, formerly a British crown colony (2005 est. pop. 6,899,000), land area 422 sq mi (1,092 sq km), adjacent to Guangdong prov.  won the Gina Bachauer Gina Bachauer, (Greek: Τζίνα Μπαχάουερ), (b. May 21, 1913) (d. August 22, 1976) born in Athens, Greece, was a Greek classical pianist and wife of Alec Sherman, who toured extensively in the United States and  International Junior Piano Competition, a cash prize of $7,000.

She was one of six finalists out of thirty-seven competitors from fifteen countries.

SiJing Ye of Beijing, 12, won second prize, receiving $5,000, and Hyun Jung Kim, 13, of Seoul, won the $4,000 third prize. Other winners include Qizhen He of Shenzhen, P.R. China, receiving the $3,000 fourth prize; Karsten Gimre, 11, of Banks, Oregon, the $2,000 fifth-place winner; and Sara Vujadinovic, 13, of Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro Serbia and Montenegro (sûr`bēə, mŏn'tənē`grō), Serbian Srbija i Crna Gora, former country of SE Europe, in the Balkan Peninsula, a short-lived union (2003–6) of the republics of Serbia and the much , who received the sixth prize, worth $1,000.
