World Cup-Korea/Japan announced today the use of Ordinate's patented PhonePass(TM) technology to evaluate the spoken English abilities of event volunteers. The Korean World Cup Organizing Committee chose Ordinate's Spoken English Tests (SET) because the tests focus on direct communication skills like listening and speaking ability. Use of the PhonePass system is very convenient; it is not necessary for test-takers or test proctors to go to a central location because PhonePass tests can be taken any time, anywhere in the world with any ordinary telephone. The Committee also chose Ordinate's technology because it is automatic -- a computer delivers the score results within minutes. Moreover, there will be fewer complaints from the testees regarding results because the test is completely objective.

By taking Ordinate's Spoken English Test over any standard telephone, the World Cup Organizing Committee will be able to screen qualified volunteers among all potential candidates. "It is difficult for the World Cup Organizing Committee to provide English speaking tests to more than 10,000 candidates for the 2002 World Cup volunteers who live in all areas of Korea within a week," said Mr. Kee-Hyung Choe, director of TTI TTI Texas Transportation Institute

As of today, Ordinate Corp. has completed the first phase of assessment, with over 15,000 tests completed during one week. PhonePass scores will be used to assign appropriate jobs based on the level of spoken English proficiency pro·fi·cien·cy
