KDN will deploy Motorola's CyberSURFR(TM) cable modems to establish broadband services over its two-way hybrid fiber/coax (HFC 1. (networking) HFC - Hybrid Fiber Coax.

) network, currently covering 70 percent of the Republic of South Korea. Scheduled for introduction in mid 1997, it is the first deployment of high-speed data services, which KDN plans to offer nationwide.

The CyberSURFR cable modem is part of Motorola's CableComm family of products. The CyberSURFR modem connects subscriber personal computers to the HFC system via a standard 10Base-T 802.3 LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area.
