The OSN 4200 add/drop multiplexer platform supports up to 10 gigabits per second, or two protected wavelengths, of service-bearing capacity.

Alidian's WavePack technology optimizes fiber usage by allowing multiple gigabit Ethernet streams to be carried on a single wavelength. And the OSN family's high degree of flexibility and extendibility minimizes costs associated with scaling the network to meet future demand."

About Alidian

Formed in August 1998, Alidian has developed the Optical Service Network (OSN) family, which combines electronics and photonics to permit comprehensive service delivery, breadth and awareness within a single highly scalable architecture for the dynamic metropolitan-area network (MAN) environment. OSN devices offer two key technologies: WavePack allows multiple data types to be carried in native mode on a single wavelength (rather than dedicating a separate wavelength to each type); WaveService permits the adding and dropping of individual services and application flows at multiple MAN nodes, eliminating the usual one-wavelength-per-drop-point requirement. Able to augment the legacy SONET ADM infrastructure yet offer service providers increased efficiency and cost savings as capacity grows and new services are deployed, OSN technology can be deployed in a variety of physical and logical topologies.

Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., Alidian has an R&D center in Atlanta, Ga., and a technical assistance center in Clearwater, Fla. The company was certified under the ISO (1) See ISO speed.
