Global construction equipment leader, Komatsu America International Company, a fully owned subsidiary of Tokyo-based Komatsu Ltd., and QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions, the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry and a division of QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), today announced an agreement to provide a Web-based information and network services solution for construction equipment asset tracking.

Under the terms of the agreement, Komatsu America and QUALCOMM are developing a custom Web site for Komatsu America's Komtrax(R) system. The Web site is designed for Komatsu's customers who sell, lease, service and operate construction, utility and mining equipment and associated service fleets.

The enhanced Komtrax Web site is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2001. It will provide customers with access to data management services such as geographic position, engine hour and usage reporting, as well as real-time service fleet data from construction equipment vehicles. The data from this system can be used to help reduce operating costs, increase productivity, prevent theft, simplify equipment maintenance and enhance customer service. Komatsu customers and distributors can also view and manage their service fleet vehicles equipped with QUALCOMM's OmniTRACS(R) and OmniExpress(TM) mobile communications systems through the Komtrax Web site or through integration with existing business systems.
