Kollsman was awarded a $20 million pre-production contract from the
US Army for work performed on the Kiowa Warrior Switchable Eyesafe Laser
Designator/Rangefinder, the SELRD SELRD Switchable Eyesafe Laser Rangefinder/Designator . The system will replace the existing
laser in the Kiowa Warrior helicopter's mast mounted sight.
Kollsman has also developed a modified SELRD design to replace the
ageing laser designator A device that emits a beam of laser energy which is used to mark a specific place or object. in the Apache attack helicopter A helicopter specifically designed to employ various weapons to attack and destroy enemy targets. .
